ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book attempt to engage with a continuum of cultural geography that is home, senses, emotions. It aims to bring about, once again, those intense childhood moments of awe and wonder. The book makes specific reference to both children's and adult's cultural texts of the time the 1970s it also serves to instil in the reader the notion that the childhood home, of any time. It opens with the author's approach to, and entering of, his parents' house which, following their deaths, but recalls, across its opening pages, the very feeling of movement experienced within his childhood family home's physicality and history. The book primarily to do with the memories of the experience of living in the own childhood home during the 1970s Ivy Cottage, Skewen, South Wales it is as much about living, as a child, centuries before and centuries.
