ABSTRACT

This book deals with the coordination of renewable energy policies in the European Union (EU). It analyses the evolution of feed-in tariffs in Germany, Spain and France in order to understand the reasons for policy convergence in this area in the EU. Why are national support instruments becoming more similar over time even though the harmonisation of these national support frameworks at the European level has failed? Which causal mechanisms lead to cross-national policy similarities? And what are the implications for policy coordination options in the EU?
