ABSTRACT

The detailed analysis of basic feed-in tariff design features seeks to identify national policy similarities in order to answer our research questions as presented in section 1.5: Are feed-in tariff becoming more similar, and if so, why? The extended time frame of the analysis (more than two decades) and the micro-level analysis – the detailed analysis of many design features of just one policy instrument – will enable us to identify causal factors for policy similarities. When identifying reasons for policy similarities, we will focus on our three hypotheses: transnational communication, regulatory competition and independent problem solving. Preliminary results are presented after the analysis of each design option. The reasons for policy similarities will be summarised in Chapter 8.
