ABSTRACT

Inequality is when people who should be treated as if they are equal are actually treated as if they are not equal. With an economy built on laissez-faire capitalism, a system based on the notion of unregulated business opportunities, it should not be a surprise that massive inequality has been created within the United States and around the world where multinational corporation interests operate. By understanding the social forces and processes by which inequality is created, however, it is possible to envision plans and corresponding policies that will reduce inequality to a point where everyone has a reasonably comfortable lifestyle within a healthy cultural and environmental context. The focused people are on material gain, it is that inequality will continue to occur not only because self esteem has become viewed in Western cultures as something derived relative to the status of others, but also because accumulation of wealth by one person is usually dependent upon others having less wealth.
