ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the intersection of speciesism and sexism. It talks about heterosexism that is difficult to analyze because, unlike with classism, speciesism, and sexism, it is not immediately apparent what the capitalist financial advantages are, from a labor standpoint, of maintaining an atmosphere of discrimination against gay people. People from all ethnicities, races, genders, sexual orientations, and physical sizes and shapes are capable of becoming disabled, and they are also capable of growing old. The ethnicity has a strong connection with biological, social, and specific geographical roots, while the notion of race does not necessarily. During the election between Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama we saw widespread sexism and racism; during the primary election between John McCain and Mitt Romney we saw ageism and religious persecution. Sexism, like most isms, manifests itself in a variety of ways within social relations and social institutions.
