ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the case of Dr Frank Stevenson, a researcher, who is interested in studying people who live with HIV/AIDS in London. While there are quite a few quantitative and qualitative studies on patients with HIV/AIDS, Dr Stevenson wants to focus on married men and explore the changes in their lives and any incidents of stigmatisation they might have experienced. The chapter presents the experiences of people with HIV/AIDS as they have been documented by various research studies and presents the Internet as a tool for conducting research from a distance and keeping the participants' personal information confidential. It also describes the experiences of people living with HIV/AIDS through the literature review. The chapter discusses the procedure of conducting research using the Internet. It outlines the advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet to conduct research on public health issues.
