Ashewassailinginthefleetwhichatpresentwritingis anchoredinthesaidport,ofwhichfleethislordshipis generalincommand,onFriday,the·seventeenthdayofthis presentmonth,beingenroutetosaidport,withintentto enteritwiththefleet,andhavingsightedtheharbourand beingabouttoenter,somethreeleaguesoutatseahewas metbyasmallboatwhichAntonioDelgadillo,captainand inspectorfortheislandandportofSanJuandeUlua,had sentouttohimtoinformhimthattheportwasoccupiedby CaptainJohnHawkins,Englishcorsair,withsevenarmed vessels,(f.IISr.)whohadenteredtheharbourtheday before;onlearningwhichhisillustriouslordshipbrought thefleetto,andwhilehewaswaiting,inacrosssea,forthe admiral,aboardwhichwasCaptainJuandeUbilla,and anothershipwhichwaswithhim,tocomeup,Captain AntonioDelgadilloappearedwithpeaceproposalsonbehalf ofthesaidcaptain,JohnHawkins.
