ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter we showed how the strategic planning process is shaped by context, both external and internal, and explored some examples to illustrate what this process might be in various contexts. We have put forward the concept of strategic planning as an organisation’s strategy journey, enabling the people in the organisation to make sense of its current situation and decide how it should develop. Such strategy journeys are based on addressing four fundamental questions:
