ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explains supply chain visibility started out as an ambiguous synonym for the quality or quantity of information access or sharing in the supply chain. It reviews eight popular types of visibility, including why those models might be considered a good fit for a given situation. Although not an exhaustive list, the eight types of visibility reviewed provide a broad range of meta-patterns which can be repurposed to understanding or building many more types of visibility solutions. The book covers the practitioner community often is challenged with the technology acquisition process around visibility. Finally, it critical technology trends along with their potential impacts on the domain of supply chain visibility. The field of supply chain visibility is a niche in a niche, a place for extreme specialization. But it is nonetheless important and impactful.
