ABSTRACT
For the majority of participants their initial encounter was the beginning of a continued association with their parish church or fresh expression in which a new identity was forged as a Christian who belongs to a particular faith community. It is therefore perhaps not surprising that the three main factors that participants recalled positively from their first visit are closely linked with the three factors that participants most valued about their subsequent experience of church.
