I am sure that I am not exaggerating when I say that whether at cricket, boating, boxing, hunting, racing, shooting with rifle or gun, we invariably held our own. … We suffered under one grievous misfortune … we never in my time, excepting in the rebellion in Ceylon, were engaged in any campaign.
