ABSTRACT

Performance measurement is the last phase in the technology management process (see Figure 14.1). Generally speaking, performance measurement refers to the checking of an organization’s or activity’s progress towards planned goals. Performance measurement is therefore essential to determine the success of the whole technology strategy, to make necessary adjustments and to learn from past experiences. It involves the systematic measurement of whether the strategic goals were achieved and, if they were, how efficient and economical the process was. This information can then be incorporated into the design of a new technology strategy and the implementation of all the other activities of the technology management process.
