Global Arms Deliveries book
The global integration of the defense industrial bases across countries is achieved partially through global trade and global arms deliveries. These enable countries to deal with emerging defense threats with the appropriate equipment, as well as to have a wider choice of affordability by expanding beyond their domestic defense sector. Moreover, the contracts with foreign defense companies can assist countries in developing their own defense industrial bases through exchanging knowledge and collaborating in expanding skillsets. This chapter examines the global arms deliveries in the worldwide defense market in detail. It discusses the global arms deliveries by supplier country, as well as evaluates the arms deliveries to developing nations in a variety of regions – Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Moreover, it explores the development of domestic industrial bases and shifting defense priorities for many of the countries in those regions. Finally, it assesses the ways in which the demand for equipment can impact the global defense industrial base through the demand of developing countries for various categories of equipment from US defense contractors, as well as contractors from other countries.
