ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the investigation of Donati’s list is continued from my previous research which described one section of the list: the objects of material culture (Morecroft 2005). For the first time, Donati’s list is shown in full in the original handwritten Italian (Figures 6.4–6.12). The list includes the scientific samples which also formed part of Donati’s collection. A synopsis of the history of the list follows in Chapter 6 with new information about earlier mentions of the list, a discussion of its authenticity and the presentation of more links between Donati’s list and his journal.
