ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the specific architecture of that flow, which gives rise to conscious activity experienced by a human being. It examines the basic action cycle as a continuous happening between mental experience and physical explanations of that experience as a solution to the “hard problem” of consciousness. The chapter shows the physical basis of consciousness is the Now phase of an action loop. It aims to assume that stand-alone events are closed loops in order to avoid the infinity that arises when asking what is beyond any past and future boundary. The Conscious Action Theory design of a conscious being shows wide cycles of action flow with sensor arrays and function boxes indicating perpendicular cross sections through which the action is processed. In conscious systems encountered on the Earth, a Model of Reality is projected into a biological memory-support structure that is carefully protected by its owner and cannot function in vitro.
