ABSTRACT

The telescope was first used by Galileo Galilei in the seventeenth century. When he turned his telescope to the heavens he was able to observe things that were impossible to see with the naked eye. Galileo was an arrogant man and not well liked by his peers. Many fellow academics refused to look through his telescope. The Kepler Space Telescope orbits the Earth above the atmosphere searching our Galaxy for the possibility of alien life. Kepler is looking for potentially habitable planets on which we may find extra-terrestrial life-forms. An exciting feature of space exploration is the search for extra-terrestrial life within our Solar System, and the discovery of Goldilocks Planets out in deep space with potential to support life.
