ABSTRACT

At this point in the book, we have outlined a range of broad, pre-development and event considerations for sport facility and event managers. This chapter takes the manager into the next phase of facility development – the final design and construction specifications. In many ways, this is both the most exciting and the most important phase in sport facility and event management. Many of the decisions made now are largely irreversible, and are likely to have a significant effect on the project’s overall success. Having said that, this stage allows managers to incorporate their own vision and ingenuity into the project, and as such presents a stimulating challenge.
