Strange phenomenon! This king with the brilliance of the moon {or: the appearance of Śiva} triumphed without arms, and by the valor of his own arm, over the arrogant enemy army bearing solid arms, as if that army was powerless Love armed with flowers.

Although he was stable, tightly embraced by the Earth, this king, like a fire which would have drowned out the voice of the enemy by the noise of his power (śakti), surrounded Mount Mandara with shadowy winds and made the sun and the moon tremble.
