ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to differentiate the presented stimuli from the resulting response sequence of behaviours and describes the analysis and description of task processes. The task processes of a group which is solving a problem are described in terms of certain states and sequences of transitions between states. The chapter presents a series of modifications that facilitate the calculation of organizational level, the degree of hierarchy in the group, and the efficiency of its task processes. An interesting feature of the task process graph structure is that each of its nodes is a milestone structure. The structures are usually defined with respect to group milestones. The determination of the roles of each member can be made from the milestone structures. There are two group milestone-related structures labelled miscellaneous structures occurring in the data phase and answer phase containing entries which are not coded in terms of specific data or solution content.
