ABSTRACT

This chapter offers three lesson plans that can be used to introduce children to the 4Cs and to the Thinking Together approach. As the children may have gathered from the games, Thinking Together involves talk. Talking through problems and ideas together can be a bit like thinking out loud – hence the term Thinking Together. Ask children to think about discussions they might have in the classroom. Show them the empty 4Cs display board and tell them that it will be populated with ‘ground rules’ to support their talk. Give the children two minutes to reflect silently on the session and think of ground rules that could be added to the 4Cs display. Allow them to share their ideas with a partner before taking feedback from the class.
