ABSTRACT

Tayeba Shaikh, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist in New York City where she founded 513 Wellness, a practice specializing in adolescents and adult women. As a credentialed Health Psychologist with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists, Dr. Shaikh concentrates on working with interdisciplinary teams including internal medicine, neurology, and psychiatry. She is Affiliated Faculty at The University of Cincinnati and at Union Institute & University in the Psychology Department. Dr. Shaikh graduated from Union Institute & University with her Master of Arts with a Concentration in Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her dissertation explored attitudes and beliefs surrounding honor killings among American Muslim women in the United States. The study utilized the methods of structured qualitative interviews with these women as well as an autoethnography portion to help understand and explain attitudes and cultural influences regarding this topic. Previously, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. John’s University in Queens, New York. Dr. Shaikh’s experience spans a wide variety of institutions, age groups and modalities. She has collaborated with other professionals in multidisciplinary teams in order to address complex issues. Dr. Shaikh has provided therapeutic support to clients of all ages on a variety of different mental health issues including depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, and family systems.
