ABSTRACT
An online help system can be accessible through the use of a "Help" link from the data system and contain lessons to help users perform tasks and understand topics related to the data system. Technical lessons help users to use the data system, acting like a virtual technology coach/trainer who can assist users when a live person who can help is not present, customer support is closed, and/or the lessons are desired as a training tool. The 3.1 Standards represent a synthesis of literature pertaining to designing technical lessons to accompany data system use. Another lesson type that can be included within the online help system is the type that helps users understand, analyze, and use the data contained within the data system. The 3.2 Standards represent a synthesis of literature pertaining to designing data analysis lessons to accompany the use of data that is housed and displayed within a data system or report suite.
