ABSTRACT

The manner in which data is packaged and displayed for users needs to facilitate easy and accurate understanding, analysis, and use of the data. A credible data system or report suite is one user can trust as accurate and appropriate. The 4.1 Standards represent a synthesis of literature pertaining to ways data systems and reports should establish and maintain credibility. It is vital that data displayed within data systems and reports be as error-free as possible. The most important task of someone presenting data is to establish and keep credibility. A data display whether tabular or graphic should represent quantities accurately. Data displays should reflect data-specific guidelines and encourage correct analyses. Support provided for Standards 4.3.01 and 4.3.10 also pertains to Standard 4.1.02. Standard 4.3.01 concerns the need to make format and content choices that encourage understanding. Standard 4.1.04 conforms to best practices and legislation for data privacy and security.
