ABSTRACT
At the completion of this chapter, students should be able to:
outline the legal and regulatory context in which international, national and local sports organisations operate;
understand how the European Union has impacted on sport governance;
assess how legislation and regulatory guidance shapes sport governance in practice, including considerations of liability and risk;
differentiate between legal forms of Non-Profit Sports Organisations;
analyse the actions taken by sports organisations in response to the legal and regulatory context.
