ABSTRACT
There are basically two types of comparison. One indicates which of the two items is stronger (or weaker) in the feature being compared; the other indicates whether or not two items are similar/identical. Although certain patterns can imply both, the focus of this chapter is on the fi rst type of comparison. The second type is discussed in Chapter 25.
