ABSTRACT

Metaphorical application and reflection can really help the teachers' think differently about the processes of teaching, the development of an effective pedagogy and how teachers' voice and vocal delivery can be enhanced in their teaching. These performance metaphors raise a number of key points. First, all performance activities do require preparation and planning of some sort. Second, in all these metaphors there is a tension between the script, the score or the coaching strategy. Thirdly, even with the most highly improvisatory forms of theatre, music and team management, there are mental frameworks and schemata within which performers work. Using metaphors in this way can help provides the teachers' with alternative insights into routine activities. The 3C Model provides a helpful structure for applying metaphors to learning contexts. The three-stage model incorporates the following three steps: Create, Connect and Combine. This model introduces a practical task that helps teachers' to apply metaphors in teaching a new concept to their students.
