ABSTRACT

In this final chapter, an extensive case study is presented, which confronts the realities of applying the techniques of performance management and fostering employee engagement. The case centers on an employee struggling to exceed expectations and details several manager--employee feedback and appraisal meetings, the use of 360-degree feedback and an executive coach, the sharing of 360-degree feedback results with key stakeholders, and the development of an action plan for performance improvement. The authors close with a list of 11 overarching expectations for their readers as way to encourage them to effectively use the performance management process, and in doing so, foster higher levels of engagement.
