ABSTRACT
Like English, Portuguese has a present simple tense, e.g. eu estudo ‘I study’ and a present continuous tense, e.g. eu estou estudando ‘I am studying’. When talking about actions in the present, 1 the use of the two tenses is largely the same in the two languages, apart from a few small differences mentioned below.
