ABSTRACT

If you sit down for a relaxing evening, which would you prefer to watch: a film or a selection of ten-minute unrelated ‘shorts’? Assuming, like us, you would prefer to watch the film, then the question is why? Each of them can help to ‘pass the time’, each of them will tell a story, and they can provide you with the opportunity to smile, think, laugh or even cry. But the film is likely to be easier to watch and will probably be more engaging than a selection of unrelated shorts. So, why does a film hold our attention? It is because it builds throughout, at times telling different stories but ultimately weaving them into ‘a whole’ with a consistent message. This is how your training should feel.
