ABSTRACT
In the PRC, sport has always been associated with pragmatism and utilitarianism. The result of Olympic sports being prioritized in order to achieve a global presence has been that most traditional Chinese sports have become peripheral. However, Chinese martial arts are still developing rapidly side by side with the country’s modernization and continue to be seen as valuable cultural legacies.
