ABSTRACT
The Sui was a short-lived but very important dynasty, as it witnessed the end of hundreds of years of war, as well as the beginning of a state bureaucracy. The Tang dynasty further advanced this political progress and made China a world power. By the time of the Ten Kingdoms period, martial arts had become popular at the grass-root level and had even spread to other countries alongside military utility.
