ABSTRACT
The Republic of China witnessed intense political unrest, clashes of different ideological trends, and conflict between foreign and local physical education and sports. Despite the complex political and social environment, Chinese martial arts still developed further. Above all, martial arts were further popularized with the formation of various societies and academies in urban areas. Another important feature of this period was the inclusion of martial arts in modern education.
