ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that incorporate clear and visible targets and assessments into teaching and learning. It suggests using assessment purposefully to inform teaching and support learning and shows the value and relies on assessment as an essential source of insight into student learning. It suggests prepare and analyze assessments with an emphasis on growth and improvement. In the classroom, informative assessments guide teachers' decisions. According to Webster's Dictionary, synonyms for visible include recognizable, evident, obvious, and accessible. Mr. Warren deconstructs the standard "graph points on the coordinate plane to solve real-world and mathematical problems". In the hands of a skilled teacher, in a student-focused classroom, assessment policies and practices are clear to the students from the first day. Formative strategies and feedback engage students in solving problems, devising problems, playing math games, and explaining it to visitors from Planet Xenon. Formative assessment also supports collaborative learning.
