ABSTRACT
A vision of education that aspires to foster well-being for all, sustainably, brings a mighty challenge to understand what this means to diverse communities around world. As Western-based education thought leaders offer recommendations for transforming education, we can be constrained by national-silo thinking that focuses our attention on our own region or country's if education should exist in isolation from the interconnected social, environmental, economic, and cultural challenges of our time. At the Barefoot College, artisans were trained to sustain centuries-old cultural traditions and their products are marketed nationally and internationally. Forerunners in education who are already implementing New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL) are well positioned to expand on its potential to contribute to new ways of meeting our global learning needs. It is certainly less complex to consider transforming education with only school systems in Global North in mind.
