ABSTRACT

Documentary filmmakers are attracted to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict the way that moths are drawn to a flame. In my view, Arna's Children is the most challenging and the most thought provoking of all these. Since the 1967 war against a group of Arab states, Israel has been an occupying power in the West Bank (and the Gaza Strip as well, until quite recently). As shown in this stunning film, this occupation has played a central role in creating a dispossessed and disillusioned Palestinian population.
