ABSTRACT

Last Train Home (D-17) focused on Chinese laborers who returned home each year to celebrate the New Year with family and old friends, who were more like complete strangers due to their yearlong absence. The following documentary spends more time on the factory floor and shows the cruelty of company practices and the inhumanity of employees’ work lives. Nearly all criticisms of China's human rights policies have zeroed in on such things as the imprisonment of political dissidents. What also has to be kept in mind are the massive human rights violations that are carried out every single day at the workplace.
