ABSTRACT

On the fifth of January, 1960, John Perras gave a concert at Carnegie Recital Hall, which included my “Overture and Allegro” for unaccompanied flute. It went very well and even got a good review in The New York Times, which shocked most of my musician friends, since they had also thought it was a good piece. I went with a lovely seventeen-year-old girl whom I had met at a health food store. She giggled with pleasure when the piece was over. She was such a sunny soul, I dedicated the piece to her. When we went to the health food store owned by Mr. Damer on Eighth Street the next day he was bubbling over with enthusiasm.
