Can We Stand on Both Feet?

I have presented some of the ways older people experience and imagine mixed race identity differently based on factors like race, age, class, gender, and nationality. In this chapter, I shift focus to the commonalties, the themes that transcended differences, among the people I interviewed. Most of these common themes have already been touched upon in the quotations throughout this book. Here I want to make them explicit.
