Thomas Edison’s Fatima: Coochie Coochie Dancer (1896) features the Middle Eastern gyrations of Fatima, a popular dancer at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Length: one minute. In 1907 Chicago’s censorship board affixed a large stain covering Fatima’s body on the print showing in Chicago.
