ABSTRACT
Within the five sections of Chapter 1 we aim to carry further the above hints about our problems and directions for both solving them and continuing our evolutionary voyage. Our focus remains on the potentials of language and the scientific method. In “The Grocer and the Chief” we develop an example illustrating the change from preindustrial to modern society. And we also illustrate the problems and possibilities of contemporary society. “The Bureaucratic Way of Life” centers on those problems, and “The Evolutionary Way of Life: Language” focuses on those possibilities. Our fourth section, “The Evolutionary Way of Life: Language and the Scientific Method,” introduces our direction for moving toward the infinite potentials of language and the scientific method. And in a final section, “Plan of the Book,” we preview what is to come in the chapters that follow.
