ABSTRACT
All in all, the Miocene apes came in a huge variety of species, some of which were large bodied and lacked tails. After this spectacular proliferation of apes, however, nearly all of them became extinct by the end of the Miocene, with only one lineage surviving to give rise to living apes and humans.
