ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a conversation between the ghost and the author. The author says that he's not promising anyone a rose garden, although he still believes that a liberating socialist revolution will triumph across much of the world. He have already told everyone that the Tea Party or other Far Right types could create an even worse system than today's capitalism in the United States. The ghost said, capitalist crises led the public to turn to right wing demagogues such as Hitler and Mussolini rather than to progressive leaders. He saw a version of that in his own day, with the restoration of the militarized and reactionary Napoleonic Empire under Louis Napoleon in 1852. People should go back to that history and learn the lessons if they want to avoid similar disasters today. The author discusses the Far Right and how it seeks to create extremely dangerous 'retro-alternatives' to capitalism as people know it.
