ABSTRACT

Capitalism generates great wealth, it was the most remarkable productive system ever seen. The truth is that as capitalism matures, it creates great wealth but also a growing class division between the rich and everyone else that eats away at society itself. Society polarizes between great corporate monopolies whose great wealth helps them control the state and everyone else. President Reagan's first act as president was to destroy the Air Traffic Control Union (PATCO), the beginning of the Reagan revolution's assault on the labor movement. Society itself begins to fracture and fall apart. But capitalism has increased the well-being of workers over the centuries. Workers have gotten some real creature comforts and improvements in their standard of living. Most people worked longer and harder over the last generation while they kept losing income, power, and self-respect, even as the economy kept growing. Hence extreme inequality, the inevitable trend as capitalism matures, is the root of social breakdown.
