ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a talk between the author and the Karl Marx's ghost. The ghost said that the new century people moved into is throwing up new extreme challenges to capitalism. The ghost is on the threshold of a number of new limits and extreme hurdles for capitalist system. Many of these challenges have been seen at lower levels before, but the ghost facing qualitative change-points of no return, played out in the long crisis, from which capitalism and society cannot escape or survive. The chapter discusses the acute systemic problems which are mentioned by Karl Marx. One has to do with what David Harvey, the geographer, social theorist who has put the spatial argument very clearly. Globalization is one face of space compression, which, as author wrote in "The Communist Manifesto" and other works, is at the heart of capitalism. The capitalist must devour and possess all space on the planet.
