ABSTRACT
Shortly before his premature death in 2003, the brilliant political analyst Roger Gould completed a superb, coherent, vivifying book while undergoing intensive treatment for cancer. As a cancer victim who survived, I read Gould’s Collision of Wills (2003) with triple interest: as evidence of my good fortune, as a tribute to his courage, and as a memorial to his intellectual contribution.
