ABSTRACT

When bullying becomes news, we already know two things: (1) there has been an unattended history of bullying, and (2) inadequate attention has been paid to the context in which the bullying is occurring. When there was an outbreak of bullying in the junior high at the Project Learn School, we immediately knew that multiple social dynamics required examination, beginning with the roles that both children and adults play. Everyone involved, including bystanders-the community as a whole-needed to be held accountable.
