ABSTRACT
Generally, students find the subject of marriage and family quite relevant to their lives. After all, nearly everyone comes from some sort of a family, and most people are likely to get married some day (if they are not already married). In many cases, people marry more than once during their lifetimes—this is known as serial monogamy. In rare cases, someone may have multiple spouses at the same time. This type of marriage is known as polygamy. In the United States, polygamy is illegal. However, in other parts of the world, including certain areas of Africa and some Islamic countries, polygamy is legal and condoned by religious teachings.
