Class, Stratification, and Personality under Conditions of Radical Social Change

This chapter is based mainly on a paper with a somewhat more encompassing title (namely, “Social Structure and Personality under Conditions of Radical Social Change”), coauthored with Kazimierz M. Słomczynski, Krystyna Janicka, Valeriy Khmelko, Bogdan W. Mach, Vladimir Paniotto, Wojciech Zaborowski, Roberto Gutierrez, and Cory Heyman, published in the American Sociological Review (ASR) (Kohn et al. 1997). I include in this chapter the measurement model for intellectual flexibility that was referred to in that paper but published only later (in Kohn et al. 2000). I have also expanded the tabular presentations and the textual discussion to fully include both social stratification and intellectual flexibility.
