The dominant economic model-the one built on turning nature into money-is sinking fast. It’s like the Titanic after hitting the iceberg. We passengers have three choices. We can run around the ship yelling, “I protest, this boat sucks.” We can continue to merely rearrange the deck chairs on the sinking vessel, tinkering with an obvious failure. Or we can get busy building a green lifeboat-solar-and wind-powered, made from recycled materials, and serving an organic buffet as people dance to cool music. When we pull up alongside, the passengers on the Titanic will happily jump to our boat.
