ABSTRACT
In this concluding chapter I summarize the major findings, or first principles, of this study. Any author studying the police makes certain decisions about what to cover, meaning that much that could potentially be covered pertinent to police and society issues is left out or merely glossed over. Keeping this caveat in mind, the first principles presented here reflect a condensation of key points made throughout the book, with additional comments and elaborations where appropriate.
